My name is Ville Kansanen. I'm originally from Finland but have lived in California since 2008.
My basic belief is that "good design" is actually "appropriate design".
In the past 10 years, I've worked for multi-national tech companies, agile startups, and in-house creative groups. I'm very hands-on: I love making things and understanding how my team makes things. I've developed a multi-disciplinary skillset to match project/client needs at every turn. My focus has always been to create lasting design; not catering to trends.
As a strategic partner, I've headed business development pursuits, marketing campaigns, and effective pitches. At Cushman & Wakefield, I spearhead branding and marketing for the largest commercial real estate developments in the world, including Salesforce Tower in San Francisco. I'm responsible for providing the roadmap from visual identity to full-blown marketing campaigns.
My research interests are: contemporary art practices, philosophy, architecture, neuroscience, psychology, branding strategy and flexible identity design.
Outside of the day-to-day, I have an award-winning fine art photography practice, which takes me to the most remote desert-regions of America.
